CW's "Arrow": His Death Was Just The Beginning

Sneak Peek more new key art supporting CW's upcoming Vancouver-lensed TV series "Arrow", adapting DC Comics' "Green Arrow" comic book character.

"Arrow" stars Stephen Amell, Colin Donnell, Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Susanna Thompson and Paul Blackthorne, with the pilot directed by David Nutter ("Band Of Brothers") from a story by Greg Berlanti and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim.

"Arrow" joins other developing TV pilots based on DC Comics superheroes "Booster Gold", "Deadman" and "Spectre".

Created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp, "Green Arrow' debuted in "More Fun Comics" #73 (November 1941), as 'Oliver Queen', a billionaire and former mayor of 'Star City'.

Dressed like 'Robin Hood', he could rig trick arrows with special functions.

His many inventions included arrows with super-glue traps, expanding nets, explosive tips, time bombs, grappling extensions, fire extinguishers, flash bomb and tear gas.

Originally developed as an archery-themed 'Batman' vigilante, the character developed over the years into a voice of 'left-wing' and 'progressive' politics.

Another live-action interpretation of the 'Green Arrow' character also appeared in Warners Vancouver-lensed "Smallville" TV series.
