"The Equalizer": Vigilante For Hire- September 2014

Sony continues rebooting its extensive catalogue of hit feature films and TV series, with Columbia Pictures setting a September 2014 release date for its big screen update of the 1980's CBS TV series, "The Equalizer", starring Denzel Washington, as 'Robert McCall', a former secret agent turned vigilante for hire.

The new film is from Escape Artists, headed by partners Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch, from a screenplay by Richard Wenk.

Washington previously starred in Escape Artists' "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" and starred in and directed "Antwone Fisher" for producer Black.

"The Equalizer", created by Michael Sloan, aired on CBS  1985 -1989, starring Brit actor Edward Woodward as McCall, mixing elements from popular spy films.

McCall tries to make up for his 'past sins', by offering, free of charge, his services as a troubleshooter vigilante. People could find him through a newspaper ad that read "Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer".

Assisted by a group of contacts from his spying days, McCall stalks the streets of New York City, visiting his own style of vigilante 'justice' against criminals.
