Ruffalo Sees Green In "Hulk" Multi-Picture Deal

Actor Mark Ruffalo has signed a six-movie deal to appear again as Marvel's "Hulk" superhero character. The deal included his recent appearance as the Hulk  in "The Avengers".

The remaining 5 films will include "Avengers" sequels and a stand-alone "Hulk" movie.

Ruffalo as the CG Hulk in "The Avengers", gets more laughs than actor Robert Downey Jr.'s 'Iron Man', revealing to cinema audiences what comic book fans have known all along:

That besides being an indestructible beast of raging proportions, the Hulk is also as lovable as his brilliant alter-ego 'Dr. Bruce Banner'.

Created by writer Stan Lee and illustrator Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in Marvel Comics' "The Incredible Hulk" #1 (May 1962), originally cast as the emotional, impulsive alter ego of withdrawn, reserved physicist 'Dr. Bruce Banner'.

'The Hulk' appears shortly after Banner is accidentally exposed to the blast of a test detonation of a gamma bomb he invented. Subsequently, Banner will involuntarily transform into the Hulk, depicted as a giant, raging, humanoid monster, leading to extreme complications in Banner's life. Writer Lee said the Hulk's creation was inspired by a combination of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and "Frankenstein".

As the Hulk, Banner is capable of significant feats of strength, the magnitude of which increase in direct proportion to the character's anger. Strong emotions such as terror and grief are also triggers forcing Banner's transformation into the Hulk.
