Warners Looking @ "Lobo"

According to reports, Warner Bros. is adapting DC Comics' super-powered character 'Lobo' as a big screen feature.

Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, the alien Lobo first appeared in DC Comics' "Omega Men" #3 (June 1983), working as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter.

"I have no idea why 'Lobo' took off," co-creator Giffen said. "I came up with him as an indictment of the 'Punisher', 'Wolverine', hero prototype and somehow he caught on as a poster boy..."

Initially introduced as a villain, the character evolved into an anti-hero biker and over-the-top parody of various superheroes.

Lobo has extraordinary strength of undefined limits, possessing superhuman durability, able to survive unprotected in deep space and withstand powerful explosive blasts without sustaining injury. An accelerated healing factor enables him to regenerate with efficiency and little pain, as he is functionally immortal, immune to the effects of aging.

Lobo also has a developed sense of smell, allowing him to track objects between solar systems, as well as a separate tracking ability enabling him to track an individual across galactic distances.

A formidable combatant, Lobo's main weapon is a large titanium alloy chain he keeps wrapped around his right wrist.
