Directed by the Farrelly Brothers ("Dumb and Dumber") the movie is a 'resurrection', with new actors, of the original "Three Stooges" comedy team of Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Curly Howard.

Inspired by the original 1930's "Three Stooges" 'short presentations', the movie storyline focuses on the trio, first left as newborns outside an orphanage, then following them into adulthood, with the full feature divided into three half-hours.
Supporting cast includes Jane Lynch, Larry David, Stephen Collins, Sofia Vergara and Jennifer Hudson.
Writer/actor Larry David ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") plays 'Mother Mengele', the nun who runs the orphanage where the 'Stooges' grow up, under the supervision of Jane Lynch ("Glee") as 'Mother Superior'.
Fox acquired The Farrelly Bros. "Three Stooges" project from MGM. The screenplay is co-written by the brothers and Mike Cerrone.

"It’s not a biopic," said Peter Farrelly. "It takes place in present day, and they will look, dress and sound exactly like the original Stooges..."
