Why Don't We Do It "On The Road"

Sneak Peek a new poster supporting director Walter Salles' "On The Road".

The adaptation of author Jack Kerouac's novel "On The Road", stars Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen and Amy Adams.

Produced by Francis Ford Coppola, on a $25 million budget, the story is based on the years Kerouac spent traveling America in the 1940's with his friend 'Neal Cassady' and several other figures who would go onto fame in their own right, including writers William S. Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg.

"On the Road", written by Kerouac in 1951, then published in 1957, is largely an autobiographical work, considered a defining work of the postwar 'Beat Generation', inspired by jazz, poetry, and drugs.

Salles' 'guerilla shoot' started August 2010, in Montreal, Quebec, then to Gatineau, Quebec, with the city standing in for Denver, Colorado, circa 1947. Production then moved to Calgary, Alberta, with additional scenes lensed in Argentina, Mexico, New Orleans, Arizona and San Francisco.
