Wahlberg and Beckinsale Running "Contraband"

"Contraband" is a $40 million budgeted action thriller directed by Baltasar Kormákur, starring Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale, remaking the Icelandic 2009 feature "Reykjavík-Rotterdam", that starred Kormákur :

"...'Chris Farraday' abandoned his life of crime long ago, but after his brother-in-law 'Andy', botches a drug deal for his ruthless boss 'Tim Briggs', Chris is forced back into doing what he does best -- running contraband -- to settle Andy's debt.

"Things quickly fall apart and with only hours to reach the cash, Chris must use his rusty skills to successfully navigate a treacherous criminal network of brutal drug lords, cops and killers before his wife 'Kate' and sons become their target..."

Cast also includes Caleb Landry Jones, Ben Foster, Giovanni Ribisi, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons, Diego Luna, Robert Wahlberg and Jaqueline Fleming.

From Relativity Media, Working Title Films and Blueeyes Productions, the Universal Pictures production will be released in North America, January 13, 2012.
