According to BigGameHunter, Activision Publishing's first-person shooter video game "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3", released in North America and the UK November 8, 2011, has set an all-time record for the biggest entertainment launch with more than $400 million in sales.
"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the third installment in Activision's "Modern Warfare" video game series is the eighth "Call of Duty" installment in total, set in America, England, France and Germany, as the entire world is plunged into war.
This marks the third consecutive year that the "Call of Duty" franchise has set day one launch records across all forms of entertainment, something no other entertainment franchise in any medium has ever accomplished :
