Written/produced by Joe and Tony Gayton, the first season of 10 episodes will premiere on AMC, October 16, 2011, after the second season premiere of "The Walking Dead".
The term 'Hell on Wheels' is an 1860's phrase describing the traveling work camps that helped expand railroads westward after the US Civil War.
Former 'Confederate' soldier 'Cullen Bohannon' (Anson Mount) joins one of the camps in the guise of looking for work. But in actuality he is searching for his wife's killers.
Cast also includes Dominique McElligott, Colm Meaney, Ben Esler, Eddie Spears, Philip Burke and April Telek.
