The character first appeared in Marvel Comics' "Uncanny X-Men" #129 (January 1980), created by writer Chris Claremont and illustrator/co-writer John Byrne, as an urbane, mutant 'telepath', initially known as the 'White Queen', evolving from one of the most dangerous foes of the "X-Men", into one of its most central members.
As a mutant of enormous telepathic ability, Emma Frost is capable of transforming into an organic 'diamond state' with enhanced strength and durability which suppresses her telepathy.
She is also capable of extraordinary 'psionic' feats, including broadcasting and receiving thoughts, mind-control, altering perceptions and memories.
Emma Frost also has powers of psychic shielding, astral projection, mind switching, brain engram modification, mental sedation and the induction of mental pain via touch.
From Marvel Studios, Marv Films, The Donners' Company and Bad Hat Harry Productions, "X-Men: First Class" opens across North America. June 3, 2011.
