"Torchwood": Miracle Day - July 8, 2011

Further to our reports June 2010, the Starz premium cable network ("Spartacus: Blood and Sand"), now confirms it will premiere the sci-fi themed "Torchwood: Miracle Day", July 8, 2011.

"Torchwood" stars actor John Barrowman as the 'immortal' 'Captain Jack Harkness', who runs the activities of the Cardiff branch of the clandestine 'Torchwood Institute', while investigating incidents involving hostile extraterrestials.

"Torchwood" received their American 'upgrade', when Starz agreed to share production costs on Season 4 in exchange for North American distribution rights.

"The premise is a miracle that happens to the world," said creator Russell T. Davies about the new season. "That one day on Earth no one dies. Not a single person on Earth dies.

"The next day no one dies and on and on and on. Now, the sixth day, the old stay old and keep getting older. The dying keep dying, but no one quite dies. The possibility of death ceases to exist."

The new 10 episodes will premiere on BBC One and Starz throughout the summer of 2011, with the story shifting from the UK to North America, including 'key' American actors.

"It's not a new version, it's not a reboot," said Davies about the international edition of the series.

"It's not going to be 'Lost' and take 20 years to find out what's going on. It's going to have a most remarkable conclusion after 10 episodes."
