"Torchwood" Aliens Invade Starz

The British 'alien' TV series "Torchwood" will receive an American 'upgrade' courtesy the Starz premium cable network ("Spartacus"), with Starz sharing production costs on the show's upcoming season in exchange for North American distribution rights.

The new 10 episodes will premiere on BBC One and Starz during the summer of 2011, with the story shifting from the UK to North America, including 'key' American actors.

"Torchwood" deals with the activities of the Cardiff branch of the 'Torchwood Institute', getting tangled up in incidents involving hostile extraterrestials.
The group is led by the 'immortal', 'Captain Jack Harkness'.

"It's not a new version, it's not a reboot," creator Russell T. Davies said about the upcoming international edition of the series.

"It's not going to be 'Lost' and take 20 years to find out what's going on. It's going to have a most remarkable conclusion after 10 episodes."
