"Game Of Thrones" - April 17, 2011

"Game of Thrones", the new medieval fantasy TV series created by David Benioff and Dan Weiss, will debut April 17, 2011 on HBO.
Adapting author George R. R. Martin's best-selling "A Song of Ice and Fire" series of novels, "Game Of Thrones" is set in 'Westeros' where "...summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime...", chronicling the violent dynastic struggles among noble families for control of the 'Iron Throne of Westeros'.
The series stars Mark Addy as 'King Robert Baratheon', Alfie Allen as 'Theon Greyjoy', Sean Bean as 'Eddard "Ned" Stark', Emilia Clarke as 'Daenerys Targaryen', Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as 'Ser Jaime Lannister', Peter Dinklage as 'Tyrion Lannister', Michelle Fairley as 'Catelyn Stark', Aidan Gillen as 'Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish', Jack Gleeson as 'Joffrey Baratheon', Iain Glen as 'Ser Jorah Mormont', Kit Harington as 'Jon Snow' and Lena Headey as 'Cersei Lannister'.
Writer Benioff said his "Thrones" is "The Sopranos in Middle-earth", referencing the 'dark tone' of the fantasy series.
Principal photography for the first season started July 26, 2010, with primary locations including Northern Ireland and Malta.
