Financially struggling "Playboy" Magazine reports they will be selling 80 original photographs and more than a dozen pieces of contemporary art in a London, UK auction @ Christie’s, Dec. 8, 2010:
Of notable 'collectible' interest is the original photograph that adorned the magazine's first issue in 1953, showcasing upcoming actress Marilyn Monroe.
Other featured pieces include a 1966 'mouth' painting by artist Tom Wesselmann; actress Brigitte Bardot from March 1958;
a 1993 cover photo of Canadians Pam Anderson and Dan Akroyd, in a promotional shot for "Coneheads"; model Elle McPherson photographed by Herb Ritts; model Cindy Crawford photographed by Herb Ritts.
