Disney Digs China's "Pleasant Goat"

Creative Power, producers of the Chinese animated series "Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf", one of the most popular licensing brands in China, report they have made a deal with Walt Disney Inc to distribute their productions internationally.

"The deal involves airing our latest 100 episodes of the series 'Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf' on the Disney channel in 52 countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific region," said Shao Haowen, director of communications at Creative Power.

Broadcasts are expected to be in more than 10 languages.

Creative Power annually pumps out more than 83 hours of original content, making it a major animation producer in China, generating box office revenues of $19.33 million during the 2010 'Chinese Spring Festival' alone.

Creative Power said the animation industry still faces an uphill battle competing with Japan, in part because "...the public still believes animation firms cater only to children..."
