USA Renews Vancouver-Lensed "Psych"

According to Jeff Wachtel, president of original programming, the USA Network has renewed the Vancouver-lensed series "Psych" for a sixth season, picking up 16 more episodes.

"Psych", the top cable series for adults 18-49 (2.3 million), is a comedy-drama series created by Steve Franks, starring James Roday as 'Shawn Spencer', a 'crime consultant' for the Santa Barbara Police Department whose "heightened observational skills" and detective instincts allow him to convince people he solves cases with psychic abilities.

"Psych" also stars Dulé Hill as Shawn's best friend, straight man and reluctant partner 'Burton "Gus" Guster' and Corbin Bernsen as Shawn's father, 'Henry'.

Season 5 premiered July 14, 2010 and had its mid-season summer finale, September 8, 2010.

USA is now listed as the most valuable asset of NBC Universal at $11.7 billion, while the value of broadcaster NBC itself is listed at a negative $600 million.
