Gandolfini Hacks Into "Taxi 0-22"

Actor James Gandolfini ("The Sopranos") will executive produce and possibly star in an HBO US adaptation of the French Canadian comedy series "Taxi 0-22", following a 'politically incorrect' cab driver in New York City.

"Taxi 0-22" currently airs over Quebec's TVA network, starring Patrick Huard as 'Rogatien Dubois Jr.' Huard will also executive produce the HBO adaptation, with writer Dave Flebotte ("Desperate Housewives") scripting the first episode.

The first season of "Taxi 022", debuting in 2007, is predominantly set inside Dubois' dark blue taxi, a Ford Crown Victoria, with the 'Archie Bunker-like' comedy unfolding through opinionated interactions, with guest stars and other passengers who ride in his cab. Season two expanded the show's narrative to focus more on stories and characters outside of the taxi.

More than 1,000,000 Canadian francophone viewers currently watch "Taxi 0-22" each week.
