Edgar Wright Crawls After "Ant-Man"

Director Edgar Wright ("Scott Pilgrim") continues his development of an "Ant-Man" feature film, based on the Marvel Comics character, that according to Marvel topper Kevin Feige will follow the Marvel Studios/Paramount comic book adaptation of superhero team "The Avengers" in 2012.

'Ant-Man' is the name of several fictional characters in the Marvel Comics Universe including 'Henry Pym', created in 1962 by writer Stan Lee and illustrator Jack "King" Kirby, for Marvel's "Tales to Astonish" #35.

Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym invented various methods for an individual to reduce their size, armed with a 'cybernetic' helmet that can control ants. Over the years Pym adopted other superhero aliases, due to his size altering discovery known as 'Pym Particles', including the identities 'Giant-Man' and 'Goliath'.

The Ant-Man known as 'Scott Lang' was a thief who was reformed with the aid of Pym and 'Iron Man'. After a career as the second Ant-Man, he became an affiliate of the 'Fantastic Four' and full-time member of the 'Avengers'.

'Eric O'Grady', the third character to assume the title of Ant-Man was a low-level agent of the counter-terrorism organization 'S.H.I.E.L.D.', before he stole the Ant-Man armor, mainly 'to get chicks'.
Wright, who has has been researching 'nanotechnology' for his "Ant-Man" feature, plans to direct "a full-on action adventure sci-fi film but with a comedic element", working from his own screenplay adaptation, co-written by Joe Cornish.

Both Pym and Lang will be major characters in the new film, with Pym as Ant-Man in his 1960's guise and a flashforward to Lang as Ant-Man's successor.
