EuropaCorp, the Paris-based production company run by producer/director Luc Besson has greenlit a 12 episode one-hour series, based on "The Transporter" action films.
The new series, budgeted at $4 million per episode, will be filmed in English, prepping for an early 2011 start in Canada and France.
"The Transporter" features were budgeted at $31 million each, grossing a total of $238 million worldwide.
Written by Besson, "The Transporter" feature, released in 2002 was directed by Louis Leterrier ("The Incredible Hulk") and Corey Yuen, starring actor Jason Statham ("Snatch") as 'Frank Martin' and Shu Qi as 'Lai Kwai', followed by "The Transporter 2" and "The Transporter 3".
According to the films, Martin is a highly regarded 'transporter' in the criminal underworld, willing to transport anything, anywhere - no questions asked - for the right price, operating by a strict set of rules:
1. Once the deal is made, it cannot be changed
2. No names
3. Never look in the package
4. Never be blinded by personal feelings.
