Singer/dancer Lady Gaga appeared on the Grammy Awards January 31, opening the show and winning two awards.The 23-year old started performing in New York City's Lower East Side before signing with Streamline Records, working as a songwriter for fellow label artists. Gaining the attention of 'Akon', who recognized her vocal abilities, she signed with his label, Kon Live Distribution.
Saying that both David Bowie and Madonna influenced her style, Gaga's debut album, "The Fame", released August 2008, hit number one in several countries, topping the Billboard Top Electronic Albums chart in the US.
The first two singles,"Just Dance" and "Poker Face", co-written/co-produced with RedOne, became international number one hits and the album won Grammy Awards for Best Electronic/Dance Album and Best Dance Recording.
Early 2009, Gaga went on the road with her first headlining tour, "The Fame Ball Tour" and by the end of 2009, she released her second studio album "The Fame Monster", with the top single "Bad Romance" showcased on her "Monster Ball Tour".
In 2 years, Lady Gaga has sold over eight million albums and 35 million singles digitally worldwide.
