"Metal Men" Steel The Spotlight

As Warners Animation releases "Clash Of The Metal Men" on The Cartoon Network's January 29 episode of "Batman: The Brave and the Bold", "X-Men" movie producer Lauren Shuler-Donner continues developing her "Metal Men" feature for Warner Bros Pictures.

"'Metal Men' is much more like 'Men in Black'," Shuler-Donner said about her upcoming movie take.

"It's miles away from 'X-Men'. It's lighter and it's fun with a lot of CGI."

The first DC Comics 1962 "Metal Men" comic books were written/edited by Robert Kanigher and drawn by Ross Andru/Mike Esposito.

Key stories included "The Nightmare Menace", "The Day the Metal Men Melted" and "Rain of the Missile Men".

As detailed in the origin story "The Flaming Doom", pipe-chewing inventor 'Dr. Will Magnus' created robots with personality 'responsometers' and an ability to reduce their own composition into molten metals, shape-shifting at will, into inanimate objects of any size.

The core group is made up of 'Platinum' (Tina), a sensitive female with an uncontrollable crush on Magnus, 'Tin', shy and mild-mannered, 'Gold', the virtuous leader, 'Iron', the strongest, dim-witted 'Lead' and hot-headed 'Mercury'.

In new stories, Magnus must rescue his Metal Men from destruction, or be doomed to wander forever "Inside In the Inside Out".
