The Vancouver-lensed Fox TV series "The Human Target", adapting the Vertigo comic book series, debuts January 17, 2010:
The first episode "Pilot" is directed by Simon "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" West, written by Jonathan E. Steinberg, guest-starring Canadian actress Tricia "Battlestar Galactica" Helfer.
In "Pilot", Chance is hired to protect the engineer of California's first bullet train as it makes its maiden voyage from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
"...'Christopher Chance' is a unique private contractor/security expert/bodyguard hired when an unusual or imminent threat cannot be solved through normal means of protection.
Chance works with his business partner and trusted friend, 'Winston' and hired gun 'Guerrero', to integrate himself completely into his clients lives and eliminate the threat by becoming the human target..."
"The Human Target" stars Mark "Boston Legal" Valley as the DC Comics character, created in 1972, by writer Len Wein and illustrator Carmine Infantino.
Writer Peter Milligan and illustrator Edvin Biukovic revived the character in 1999 for a four-issue limited series followed by the graphic novel "Human Target: Final Cut", an ongoing series that lasted 21 issues.
