"Green Hornet" Buzzes After Waltz...

The character of 'Chudnofsky', the villain in actor Seth Rogen's upcoming take on "The Green Hornet", will be played by Austrian actor Christoph "Inglourious Basterds" Waltz.

Waltz co-starred as obnoxious 'Col. Hans Landa', in director Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds", winning a Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival for the role.

Teletoon Debuts Marvel's "Super Hero Squad"...

Marvel Animation's "Super Hero Squad Show" debuted on Canada's Teletoon and will premiere in the US on the Cartoon Network, based on the 'Marvel Super Hero Squad' action figure line from Hasbro.

The 'humorous take' on the Marvel universe is produced by Film Roman.

First episodes include Marvel Comics character 'Wolverine' in "To Err Is Superhuman!", written by story editor Matt Wayne, followed by "This Silver, This Surfer!".

Disney And Del Toro "Double Dare You"...

Walt Disney Studios, in collaboration with Guillermo "Hellboy" del Toro is launching a new production label called "Disney Double Dare You" (DDY), to create new animated films 'full of chills and thrills' for audiences of all ages, according to Dick Cook, chairman, Walt Disney Studios.

All films will be produced under the guidance of del Toro, who originated the concept and the design of DDY and who will also direct specific projects.

First project in development, to be produced by del Toro, from his original story is "Trollhunters".

"Guillermo is a brilliant and visionary filmmaker," said Cook, "and we're excited to be launching this new label with him. His knowledge and appreciation for Disney films, along with his penchant for creating worlds of fantasy, presented a great opportunity for us to explore a whole new genre of filmmaking for moviegoers of all ages..."

"As a director, I love to take audiences into fantastic new worlds," said del Toro.

"It is part of the Disney canon to create thrilling, unforgettable moments and villains in all their classic films. It is my privilege for DDY to continue in this tradition..."

Del Toro's "Pan's Labyrinth" received six Oscar nominations in 2007, winning three Academy Awards.

Del Toro's latest film projects include directing 'back-to-back' feature film adaptations of Tolkien's "The Hobbit," set for release in 2011 and 2012...

DC Universe Classics Deadman Action Figure


Warner Bros Pictures have attached Danish director Nikolaj "Journey To Saturn" Arcel to helm a feature film adaption of DC Comics "Deadman", with producers Guillermo "Hellboy" del Toro, Don Murphy and Susan Montford.

Debuting in DC Comics "Strange Adventures" #205 (October 1967), the character was created by writer Arnold Drake and illustrator Carmine Infantino, with artist Neal Adams noted for his impressive work on the series.

Formerly a circus trapeze artist named 'Boston Brand' who performed under the name 'Deadman', complete with red costume and white corpse makeup, the character is killed during a trapeze performance by the mysterious 'Hook'.

Brand's spirit is then given the power to possess any living being by the Hindu goddess 'Rama Kushna', in order to search for his killer and obtain justice...
