Sony Needles "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo"

Sony Pictures is anxious to option English-language screen rights to the crime thriller "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", by Swedish author Stieg Larsson, for producer Scott Rudin.

Yellow Bird Film's Ole Sondberg and Soren Staermose will also produce, with Yellow Bird's Mikael Wallen and Anni Fernandez executive producing.

A Swedish language theatrical feature was recently produced, so far grossing $100 million across Europe.

The novel "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", aka "Men Who Hate Women", follows journalist, 'Mikael Blomkvist' publisher of Stockholm magazine 'Millennium'.


Losing a libel case brought against him by industrialist 'Hans-Erik Wennerström', Blomkvist agrees to be hired by 'Henrik Vanger', former CEO of the 'Vanger' companies, who offers to back the Millennium and reveal information about Wennerström's criminal activities.

After a chance run-in with 'Lisbeth Salander', a punk computer hacker with a chip on her shoulder, the unlikely couple form a classic detective pair, until the hunters become the hunted...
