As Sneak Peek first reported in 2002, author Robert E. Howard's "Solomon Kane" was being developed as a feature film with New Line Cinema. Then in February 2007, Sneak Peek was first to report that a new "Solomon Kane" feature was being shopped at the Berlin Film Festival.
Directed by Michael J. Bassett, "Solomon Kane" based on Howard's 1928 pulp magazine character, stars actor James Purefoy and is to be the first of an intended trilogy of films.
The new film focuses on the origins of Kane, a mercenary fighting in Africa for Queen Elizabeth I, who has a chance encounter with a demon called 'The Reaper'.
Kane realizes he must seek redemption or have his soul damned to Hell and returns to England for a life of peace, converting to 'puritanism', but soon the machinations of an evil sorcerer upset his plans and he is forced to take up arms again.
