Weisz Rules As 'Hypatia Of Alexandria'


Sneak Peek the French poster for "Agora", the historical, dramatic feature, directed by Alejandro Amenábar, from a screenplay by Amenábar and Mateo Gil, starring Rachel Weisz:
Co-financed by Spanish-based Sogecable, "Agora" was screened 'Out of Competition' at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, released in Spain in October and in general release through Focus Features, December 18."Agora" follows the story of astronomer-philosopher 'Hypatia of Alexandria' (Rachel Weisz) and her relationship with the slave 'Davus', (Max Minghella), who is torn between loving his mistress or gaining his freedom by embracing Christianity.
Although "Agora" was Spain's highest grossing feature of 2009, the film has not yet found distribution in Italy because of its controversial, religious subject matter.
