Director Gil "Monster House" Kenan and producer Robert "Roger Rabbit" Zemeckis have tapped screenwriter Ann "Chronicles Of Narnia" Peacock to adapt author Eoin Colfer's historical adventure novel "Airman" for the big screen.
"Airman" was released in North America January 2008 and shortlisted for the 2009 Carnegie Medal.
Author Colfer was inspired to write the book after a frightening skydiving experience, combined with his childhood observation that the Saltee Islands would make an excellent prison.
Set in the 1800's, premise of the book follows 'Conor', the son of a King's bodyguard on the island of 'Great Saltee', framed for the King's murder and thrown into a prison by the villain 'Hugo Bonvilain'.
Conor eventually escapes back to his family and a princess he is in love with, by building a flying machine...
