India-based Big Reliant Entertainment has purchased film rights to creator Rob Liefeld's "Youngblood" for director Brett "X-Men: The Last Stand" Ratner.
"'Youngblood' is one of the few comic books left with tentpole potential," said Ratner.
The fictional superhero team of comic book characters created by writer/artist Liefeld, debuted as a backup feature in the 1987 one-shot comic book "Megaton: Explosion" before appearing in its own 1992 title as a flagship publication for Image Comics.
Premise followed the 'Youngblood' superteam sanctioned and overseen by the government, whose members included 'Shaft', a former FBI agent and archer whose bow uses magnets to propel arrows, 'Badrock', a teenager transformed into a living block of stone, 'Vogue', a Russian fashion model with purple/white skin and the assassin known as 'Chapel'...
