Actor Ewan "Trainspotting" McGregor will co-star in the biopic "Amelia" for Fox Searchlight, shooting in Toronto.Hilary Swank, Richard Gere and Virginia Madsen have already been cast, with Mira Nair directing.
Premise follows legendary aviatrix Amelia Earhart (Swank), chronicling her rise to fame, marriage to publisher George Putnam (Gere) and passionate affair with Gene Vidal (McGregor), father of author Gore Vidal.
Screenplay is by Ronald Bass.
The film is produced by Ted Waitt, Lydia Dean Pilcher and Kevin Hyman, shooting in Toronto.
