Universal has acquired non-fiction book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong, the story of the first man to set foot on the moon, to develop into a feature film.
The book is by NASA historian James R. Hansen who interviewed Armstrong, the test pilot-turned-astronaut known as the 'Ice Commander'.
Nicole Perlman will write the screenplay. Temple Hill Entertainment partners Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will produce.
Armstrong returned from the moon as one of the most famous men on Earth but didn't capitalize on a political career or endorsements. He reconnected with his family, shut out the world and became an intensely spiritual man.
Perlman is also scripting a film about the Wright brothers for National Geographic Films based on the book One Day at Kitty Hawk by author John Evangelist Walsh.
