Silken Floss
Adapted from creator Will Eisner's classic 1940's newspaper comic strip, "The Spirit" is an 'action-adventure-romance' from director Frank "Sin City" Miller.
Premise focuses on former rookie cop 'Denny Colt' (Gabriel Macht), who returns mysteriously from the dead as the 'Spirit' to fight crime from the shadows of 'Central City'.
The Octopus
His arch-enemy, the 'Octopus' (Sam L. Jackson) has a different mission: he's going to wipe out the Spirit's city.
The Spirit tracks the Octopus from Central City's rundown warehouses, to damp catacombs, and windswept waterfront, facing a bevy of women who either want to seduce, love or kill him.
Surrounding him at every turn are 'Ellen Dolan' (Sarah Paulson), the girl-next-door; 'Silken' Floss (Scarlett Johansson), a punk secretary/vixen; 'Plaster of Paris' (Paz Vega), a French nightclub dancer; Lorelei' (Jaime King), a phantom siren; and Morgenstern (Stana Katic), a sexy young cop.
Then there's 'Sand Saref' (Eva Mendes), a jewel thief with dangerous curves, and the love of his life turned bad...
Lionsgate's "The Spirit" opens January 16, 2009.
