Canada's "Blindness" Opening Cannes...


The Canadian-produced feature film Blindness will make its world debut, May 14 as Opening-Night Gala film @ the 61st Cannes Film Festival.

This is the first time in 28 years that a Canadian film has been selected for the 'prestigious slot'.

The $25-million Blindness, directed by Oscar-nominated Fernando "City Of God" Meirelles focuses on a pandemic of blindness that disables society.

Shot in Toronto, Uruguay and Sao Paulo, Brazil, the film stars actors Mark Ruffalo, Julianne Moore, Danny Glover, Gael Garcia Bernal, Yusuke Iseya, Yoshino Kimura, Alice Braga, Sandra Oh, Maury Chaykin, Martha Burns and Don McKellar.

Producers are Toronto's Rhombus, Japan's Bee Vine Pictures and Brazil's 02 Filmes.
