"Trailer Park Boys: The Movie", the Ivan Reitman-produced comedy feature, noted as the 'greasiest film of the year', based on the East Coast comedy TV series set in a Nova Scotia trailer park, has picked up US distributor Screen Media to give the film a theatrical release across the US, starting January 25.
Directed by Mike Clattenburg, the feature opened October 2006 in Canada with a US premiere at the South by Southwest film festival, March 2007.
Screen Media primarily promotes movies to TV, cable and new media networks worldwide, but now plans to distribute a slate of eight films to cinemas this year.
"We don't do 2,000-screen releases, so we've been looking for films that have a possibility of breaking out by opening them in a few theaters around the country," said Screen Media president Robert Baruc.
"I think this has the best chance of breaking out of any of the films we'll be releasing this year."
The film follows the buzzed-out antics of 'Julian', 'Ricky' and 'Bubbles' in another dumb, criminal enterprise...
Although the TV series continues to air weekly in Canada, it is not currently airing in the US, after a brief run on BBC America...
