Actor Heath Ledger Found Dead...

Actor Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday afternoon in a Manhattan apartment building, in a 4th floor apartment.

Ledger, 28, was found by a housekeeper and a masseuse who arrived at the building for an appointment with Ledger, police told the New York Times.

The masseuse was let in to the home at about 3:30 by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Ledger's bedroom.

When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond.

Police said they did not suspect foul play and they found sleeping pills near his body.

His father said it was an accidental overdose.

Ledger has two films to be released, playing 'The Joker' in Warners' upcoming Batman film "The Dark Knight" and has a key role in "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" a Terry Gilliam film shooting in London and Vancouver.

Principal photography on "The Dark Knight" finished in the fall, scheduled for a July 18 release.

The status of the "Dark Knight" marketing campaign is uncertain, built around the Joker, with pix described as deliberately ghoulish.

"The studio is stunned and devastated by this tragic news," said Alan Horn, Jeff Robinov, Warner Bros. Pictures Group.

"Heath was a brilliant actor and an exceptional person."

Ledger, a native of Australia, won an Oscar nomination for his role as co-star in the 2005 film "Brokeback Mountain"....
