Giant Screen Movies...

Now High Fidelity HDTV will air these 'Giant Screen Movies' October through December, every Friday night on 'Rush HD', 'Equator HD', 'Oasis HD' and 'Treasure HD'.

Among features making their HD debut are "The Great American West" (Treasure HD); "Amazon" (Equator HD); "Africa: The Serengeti" (Oasis HD); "Super Speedway" (Rush HD); "Adventures in Wild California" (Rush HD); "The Magic of Flight" (Treasure HD); "Stormchasers" (Equator HD); "Cosmic Voyage" (Oasis HD); "The Discoverers" (Treasure HD); "Mystic India: an Incredible Journey of Inspiration" (Equator HD); "Search for the Great Sharks" (Oasis HD); "To The Limit" (Rush HD); "Zion Canyon: Treasure of the Gods" (Treasure HD); "Chronos" (Equator HD); "Dolphins" (Oasis HD); "Speed" (Rush HD).

“It's a marriage of media, made in viewer heaven,” said High Fidelity HDTV CEO Ken Murphy.

“Filled with high resolution images that deliver a sense of reality and detail, these 'Giant Screen Movies' are tailor-made for crisp HDTV, immersing the viewer in a pure entertainment experience.”

“Nowhere else in Canada can you see these films in high definition,” said High Fidelity HDTV COO John Panikkar.

“These Giant Screen gems represent a pioneering shift of a macro experience...”

High Fidelity HDTV launched Oasis HD and Treasure HD, March 2006, followed by the launch of two additional channels, Rush HD and Equator HD.

High Fidelity will now expand to eight more channels in 2008.

High Fidelity was founded in 2003 by Canadians Ken Murphy and John Panikkar, forming partnerships with other HDTV producers and broadcasters, including Rainbow Media Holdings, the largest US HD content provider/broadcaster.

High Fidelity HDTV is currently shooting in-house productions "Hubble’s Canvas", "Ultimate Dream Day", "Motivated" and "Road Crews"...

Sold-out sessions included 'The Art of Creative Producing' with PGA Producer of the Year Ron Yerxa ("Little Miss Sunshine") and Mary Jane Skalski ("Station Agent");

'Co-Venturing with the US' featured execs from Regent Studios, Fox21tv, Lifetime TV, The N. and Insight Film Releasing.

Arin Crumley ("Four Eyed Monsters") and Lance Weiller ("Head Trauma") in 'Fast Forward: Filmmakers’ Seize Control' showed the next generation of filmmakers how to take their films directly to market through internet viral/social networking strategies.

"Without question, the new daily streamlined programming was a big hit with the delegates, with the focused program days providing for more opportunities than ever to network," said Helen du Toit, VIFF Forum Creative Director.

"There's no better way to launch our Film Festival than to have so much activity and excitement focused on the strengths and opportunities of our own film and television industry," said Alan Franey, VIFF’s Director.

"We're particularly grateful to the industry leaders who by lending their expertise and goodwill, make a significant contribution to the future competitiveness of this important sector of our economy.”

"The Forum secured the highest quality of guest speakers we have ever seen, the organisation was superb and the event ran like clockwork", said Michael Francis, Chairman, Vancouver International Film Festival.

The buzz of the Forum carried over into an array of industry soirees, ending on a red carpet at this year’s Wrap Party at the Italian Kitchen sponsored by industry powerhouse Insight Film Studios...

"Jekyll" Writer Adapting "Tintin"...

Writer Steven "Jekyll" Moffat will adapt the Belgian comic strip character 'Tintin' into a screenplay for producers Peter "King Kong" Jackson and Steven Spielberg.

The adventures of "Tintin" are being developed into a trilogy with Spielberg and Jackson each directing one film.

Created by Herge, "Tintin" comic adventures have been translated into more than 50 languages with over two hundred million books sold.

Stories feature the young reporter involved in international crime intrigues, travelling the world and to the moon, accompanied by his loyal dog 'Snowy', drunken friend 'Captain Haddock', deaf 'Professor Cuthbert Calculus' and bumbling twin detectives 'Thomson' and 'Thompson'.

The films will be made using 3-D performance capture, with Spielberg's DreamWorks studio committing to produce at least one film, according to Nick Rodwell, Herge Studios.

It is rumoured the first movie will be based on Herge's "The Secret Of The Unicorn" leading into "Red Rackham's Treasure".

Originally published as a series in "Le Soir" (June 1942 - January 1943), "The Secret of the Unicorn", focuses on the investigation and discovery of treasure ship 'The Unicorn' and its pirate connection to Captain Haddock.

Rodwell says the first "Tintin" movie will be ready in 2009.
