Sneak Peek's Michael Stevens @ VIFF 2007..."She's A Boy I Knew", a doc from Vancouver's Gwen Haworth won both the 'People's Choice Award for Most Popular Canadian Film' and the 'Women in Film & Television Vancouver Artistic Merit Award' at the wrap ceremonies of the 26th annual Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), October 12 at the Granville 7 Cinemas.
assistant director Stacy Fitch, actress Camille Sullivan, co-producer Rajvinder Uppal, "Normal"Vancouver filmmaker Carl Bessai won best Canadian feature for "Normal", focusing on a family dealing with tragedy.
Montreal director Yung Chang won best Canadian doc with "Up The Yangtze", looking at the displacement of families by the 'Three Gorges Dam'.
Animated feature "Persepolis", based on Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel, won most popular international film and Oliver Hodge's "Garbage Warrior" trashed the competition, winning for most popular international doc.
Following the awards, Pierre Salvadori’s saucy French feature "Priceless ("Hors De Prix") showcased at the Granville's Visa Screening Room.
Then it was a fresh walk around the corner, past the Wall Centre Burrard Street fountains and into the Ballroom for the VIFF 2007 Closing Wrap party, tastily furnished with a live band, hot dancers, Miss Teen Canada, tuxedoed waiters, Stella Artois beer, red/white wine, island tables of roast beef and pork, plus a full house of some of the most beautiful people working and playing in the Vancouver film industry today.
