"Flash" Spin-Off Picks Up Speed...

DC Comics character "The Flash", will spin-off from director George "Mad Max" Miller's upcoming "Justice League" movie.

The new film will be directed
by David "Wedding Crashers" Dobkin.

According to Dobkin, character 'Wally West', nephew of 'Barry Allen', aka the 1950's 'Flash', will be the focus of the new film. West was a mechanic for the 'Keystone City' police, debuting as 'Kid Flash' in 'Flash' #110, Dec 1959-Jan 1960 and as the adult Flash in 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' #12, March 1986.

West received his accelerating powers after being soaked with chemicals that had been struck by lightning.


In 1990, "The Flash" TV series was created by Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo, airing Thursday nights on CBS, with a cast including John Wesley Shipp as 'Flash', Amanda Pays as 'Christina McGee' and Richard Belzer as reporter 'Joe Kline'.

Stories featured the Flash battling drug lords and robot assassins, introducing 1950’s 'Central City' crimefighter 'Nightshade' (Jason Bernard) and the 'Ghost' (Anthony Starke).
