"Fugitive Pieces" Opens 2007 TIFF...

Toronto film-maker/writer Jacob Dolgy, files this exclusive report:

The Gala opening at this year's 32nd Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) was "Fugitive Pieces", screening at Roy Thomson Hall, with the cast and crew in attendance including producer Robert "In Praise of Older Women" Lantos and director Jeremy Podeswa.

The film was adapted from the novel by author Anne Michaels.

HNR/Sneak Peek's Michael Stevens had the opportunity of performing a cameo in "Fugitive Pieces", appearing as a 'book publisher'.

Pre-screening, guests and stars enjoyed cocktails at Toronto's Rosewater Supper Club.


At Roy Thomson Hall, Lantos thanked Podeswa and fellow producer Julia Rosenberg for "pestering" him to finance the $9.5-million Canada/Greece co-production.

Premises of "Pieces", focuses on one man's recovery from the Holocaust, to "demonstrates the best of what people are capable of, even in the most difficult circumstances," Podeswa said.


Following the film, we were invited to attend a Greek-style "Hellenic Feast" with the filmmakers/stars, catered by master chef Jamie Kennedy at the Gardiner Museum ...
