Depp Mixes It Up For "Rum Diary"

Actor Johnny Depp will reprise his "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas" homage of author 'Hunter S. Thompson' in Warner Independent's adaptation of "The Rum Diary."

Depp will produce with Graham King, who acquired rights to Thompson's novel for his GK Films shingle and Depp's Infinitum Nihil.

Bruce "Withnail and I" Robinson will write/direct the adaptation for Film Engine.

Depp will play 'Paul Kemp', a freelance journalist in 1950s Puerto Rico.

Thompson was 22 when he wrote the autobiographical novel in 1959, but did not publish it until 1998.
