Canadians Nominated For "Primetime Emmy® Awards"

Sunday, September 16 at 8:00 pm (ET/PT) the "Primetime Emmys" in 27 categories will be presented before a black-tie audience and televised by FOX Television Network from the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium.

The 59th "Primetime Emmy® Awards" telecast is executive-produced by Ken Ehrlich and directed by Bruce Gowers. The Television Academy's Governors Ball will follow the broadcast into the Shrine Exhibition Hall, adjacent to the auditorium.

Of 54 nominations for comedy and drama TV programs, as well as lead and supporting performers, 33 were not included among last year’s nominees.

New nominees include "Ugly Betty", "Entourage" and "30 Rock" for comedy series, with "Heroes" and "Boston Legal" in the drama series category.

A total of 463 separate nominations in 90 categories and areas, compiled by the independent accounting firm of Ernst & Young LLP were distributed as follows:

Canadian productions nominated included Peter Raymont's, 2005 doc "Shake Hands with the Devil" and Shaftesbury Films adaptation of author Margaret Atwood's "The Robber Bride".

The Nomadic Pictures, Calgary-shot co-production of AMC's "Broken Trail" is also up for 16 awards, including best miniseries.
