The Prairies Get A Taste of "Boone's Lick"

"Boone's Lick", a reported $80 million budgeted feature, based on author Larry "Lonesome Dove" McMurtry's novel, has been scouting Calgary and rural Manitoba as potential shooting locations.

Premise of "Boone's Lick" follows a 'headstrong' woman who takes her father and four kids on a frontier trek from Missouri to Wyoming to find her estranged husband.

Actor Tom Hanks is signed to play the woman's brother-in-law, who goes along on the trip and falls in love with her along the way.

Barry "Good Morning Vietnam" Levinson will direct the picture for Universal Studios. Producers are Gary "The Polar Express" Goetzman and Hanks.
