Singer Stalls "Superman 2: The Man Of Steel"

United Artists studio toppers Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner have greenlit an original, World War II thriller for Bryan "Superman Returns" Singer to helm as his next feature, reteaming the director with screenwriter Chris "The Usual Suspects" McQuarrie.

The film will delay Warners' sequel to "Superman Returns", "Superman 2: The Man Of Steel".

United Artists is in the process of securing $400 Million in capitalization from Merrill Lynch, planning to make four to six films per year.
