Kubrick Movie Is A "Lunatic At Large"

Uncovering a treatment for an unproduced Stanley Kubrick film project titled "Lunatic At Large", the son-in-law of the late director has developed the property into a screenplay by Stephen R. Clarke.

Kubrick originally intended directing "Lunatic At Large", based on a treatment he commissioned from pulp novelist Jim Thompson.

The dark thriller focuses on the mysterious identity of an escapee from a mental hospital.

Among many characters inhabiting the story are 'Johnnie Sheppard', an ex-carnival worker with anger issues.

Warners Greenlights "Speed Racer"



Brothers Larry and Andy "The Matrix" Wachowski will write/direct "Speed Racer" for Warner Bros., based on the 1960's cartoon series created by anime pioneer Tatsudo Yoshida.

Joel "Lethal Weapon" Silver will produce alongside executive producer Grant Hill and visual effects supervisor John Gaeta, who won an Oscar for his work on "The Matrix".



Premise of the story follows the adventures of race car driver 'Speed', his girlfriend 'Trixie' and the gadget-laden vehicle 'Mach 5'.

The family feature will be shot summer 2007 for a 2008 release

Cassel in Canada to Play French Gangster

Thomas Langmann will produce two feature films based on the life of notorious French gangster 'Jacques Mesrine', starring actor Vincent "Brotherhood of the Wolf" Cassel.

Last year, Cassel was an internet fan-favorite to play 'The Joker' for the upcoming "Batman: Dark Knight" feature, in a part that subsequently went to Heath Ledger.


Pathe will handle French distribution and international sales for "Death Instinct" and "Public Enemy No. 1", directed by Jean-Francois Richet.

Marion Cottillard and Eva "Casino Royale" Green are attached to play two women who were Mesrine's lovers and partners in crime.

Screenplay is by Abdel Raouf Dafri.

The films will be shot simultaneously in Canada and France over 30 weeks starting May 2007.

"Oddworld" Creators Animated Over "Citizen Siege"

Lorne Lanning and Sherry McKenna, creators of the Oddworld video game series, will partner with Vanguard Animation to create a new CG animated feature, titled Citizen Siege.

The concept is described as a political thriller set in the future, aimed at an adult audience.

The property will be developed as both a feature film and video game.

Lanning would direct with John "Shrek" Williams producing.

De Palma Targets "The Untouchables: Capone Rising"



Director Brian "Scarface" De Palma is planning a feature prequel to his 1987, Kevin Costner-starring hit The Untouchables.

The new film will be titled The Untouchables: Capone Rising.

Premise will follow Chicago mobster Al Capone's rise to power, while exploring his relationship with detective 'Jimmy Malone', a role played by actor Sean Connery in the first film.

De Palma promises the new film will be as visceral as his classic Scarface.

Models Do The Catwalk For "Vancouver Fashion Week"

This year's Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) runs November 2-5 featuring four nights of shows and parties, highlighting some of the best catwalk models and designers working on the west coast today.

Doors open at 6:30pm each night, with the first shows starting at 7:30pm.
