Directed by Craig Brewer, "Black Snake Moan" focuses on elderly bluesman 'Lazarus' (Samuel L. Jackson) who returns to his hometown after being abandoned by a woman he still loves. Stirred by his despair, Lazarus comes out of retirement to play music at a local club, where he spots a young, seductive girl named 'Rae' (Christina Ricci). Much to the displeasure of her sex-addict boyfriend 'Ronnie' (Justin Timberlake), Lazarus becomes a father figure to Rae.
Having put his dark past behind him, Lazarus sees Rae as a 'wounded creature' and attempts to nurse her bruised psychological condition back to health.
