"Avengers" Assemble for Marvel Live-Action

In the August 10, 'Marvel Studios Analyst Day Webcast', the company unveiled plans to self-finance two movies per year, starting in 2008, with seven projects currently in development.

Other highlights of the Webcast include:

Screenwriter Zak Penn is signing on to write a live-action feature film version of "The Avengers".

Penn will also write Universal's "The Incredible Hulk", the company's second major release in 2008 after "Iron Man".

Louis Leterrier will direct "The Incredible Hulk".

Oscar winner John "Gladiator" Nelson will be VFX Supervisor for "Iron Man".

"Ant-Man" will feature two versions of the Marvel character, with criminal 'Scott Lang' finding the cybernetic suit invented by 'Dr. Hank Pym'.

Edgar Wright is attached to direct.

"Thor", written by Mark "I Am Legend" Protosevich, will feature the Norse god of thunder banished from Asgard to live as human 'Dr. Don Blake' among mortal men.

Marvel's self-financed slate also includes feature film versions of "Captain America", scripted by David Self and "Nick Fury", written by Andrew Marlowe.

Studio-financed Marvel movies in development include "Deathlok" at Paramount, "Gargoyle" at Sony, "Namor" at Universal, "The Punisher 2" at Lionsgate and "Wolverine" and "Magneto" at Fox.
