'Vic Mackey' Returns for More of "The Shield"

The FX network has ordered up a final seventh season of creator Shawn Ryan's LA-cops drama "The Shield", keeping the series on the air through 2008, with a final batch of 13 episodes.

The sixth season, currently in production, will play early next year.

Actor Michael "The Thing" Chiklis and the rest of "The Shield" regular cast are onboard for the remainder of the show, with season five regular, actor Forest "Bird" Whitaker back for a limited number of episodes in the upcoming sixth season.

"I know what the arc is of the final season, almost through the last episode, and this is definitely the end of it," FX president-general manager John Landgraf said.

Syndicated episodes of "The Shield" can be seen nightly in Ontario, 1:00 AM on the Global Television Network.
