USA "Psych"'s Up For Eccentric Cop Series

The new USA TV series "Psych" stars James "Dukes of Hazzard" Roday as police consultant 'Shawn Spencer', who solves crimes with powers of observation that detectives think is due to him being a 'psychic'.

Or at least that’s what he wants them to believe.

The 'dramedy' also stars Dulé "The West Wing" Hill as Shawn's best friend 'Gus' and Corbin "L.A.Law" Bernsen as Shawn's disapproving father. Also featured are Timothy "Deadwood" Omundson, Maggie "Crumbs" Lawson and Kirsten "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" Nelson.

"Psych" debuts with a special 90-minute episode, Friday, July 7 at 10PM/9PM central on USA, followed by one-hour episodes for the remainder of the season.

"Psych" is executive produced by Steve "Big Daddy" Franks in association with Tagline Pictures’ Kelly Kulchack and Chris Henze. Jack Sakmar & Kerry Lenhart ("Boston Public") and Mel Damski ("Picket Fences") are co-executive producers. Douglas Steinberg is consulting producer.

Michael Engler directed the 90-minute pilot.

Created/written by Steve Franks, "Psych" continues USA’s tradition of original scripted programming (Toronto-shot "Monk") mixing comedy with crime, featuring an eccentric lead character.

The USA Network is a cable television provider of original series/feature movies, sports and entertainment events, off-net television shows and blockbuster theatrical films, seen in 90 million homes.
