Following last weekend's four-day, $122.9 million debut of Vancouver-shot "X-Men: The Last Stand", Fox producers are currently devising spin-off movies of Marvel's mutant super-hero characters into their own film franchises.
First out of the gate will be actor Hugh Jackman's long-gestating "Wolverine" project, whose character's bizarre origins will include how Canadian 'Weapon X' researchers replaced his original bones with a metal 'adamantium' skeleton. Jackman will star and co-produce "Wolverine" alongside "X-Men" producer Lauren Shuler Donner.
Another feature in development revolves around the 'Mutant Academy' supervised by 'Professor Xavier'
"We've talked about doing something on the kids...focusing on their lives, and less of a global adventure for the team," confirmed Hutch Parker, production president of 20th Century Fox.
The studio is also at the script stages of a "Magneto" movie, following the evil mutant's youthful 'pre-villain' days.
And an "Emma Frost" feature, to be directed by David O. "Three Kings" Russell, will be based on the sexy mutant telepath who can transform her body into rock-hard diamonds.
