World Premier For Singer/Burns "Superman" Doc ...

April 28, 2006

Toronto's 'Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival' will world premier the Bryan Singer/Kevin Burns’ film "Look, Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman", Sunday, May 7 at at the Isabel Bader Theatre, 93 Charles Street West, Toronto.

Toronto seemed the best choice to launch the doc as "Superman" comic co-creator Joe Shuster grew up in the city referring to reporter 'Clark Kent's' newspaper as 'The Daily Star', before it morphed into 'The Daily Planet'.

Superman has since become a star in every entertainment medium, with a pop influence spanning more than seven decades.

But what’s the real story behind this strange being from another planet who came to Earth with powers far beyond those of mortal men ?

"Look Up In The Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman" features rare comic art, highlights from classic TV shows/films, screen tests, outtakes and revealing interviews with celebrities, fans and the creative forces behind this 'alien' legend.

Produced by Bryan Singer ("The Usual Suspects", "X-Men", "X-2") and Kevin Burns ("Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy", "Cleopatra: The Film That Changed Hollywood"), "Look, Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman" is a definitive feature-length documentary on the history of the character.

Hot Docs, North America's largest documentary festival, presents its 13th annual edition April 28 - May 7, 2006, with a selection of 99+ films from Canada and around the world, presented to Toronto audiences and international delegates from more than 25 countries.

"Look, Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman" will be available on DVD June 20 from Warner Home Video.
