"Star Wars" Alumni Snag Oscar Noms ...

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences have nominated "Revenge of the Sith" for an Oscar in the category 'Achievement in Makeup'.

Lucasfilm Ltd. congratulated Creatures Supervisor Dave Elsey and Makeup Supervisor Nikki Gooley. These are their first Academy Award nominations and the first time a "Star Wars" movie has been nominated in this category.

Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic was also recognized with two nominations in the category of 'Best Visual Effects'.

Scott Farrar of ILM shares a nomination with Dean Wright, Bill Westenhofer and Jim Berney for "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe". This is Farrar's fourth nomination.

For their work on "War on the Worlds", ILM's Dennis Muren, Pablo Helman and Randy Dutra, with Daniel Sudick, have been nominated for 'Best Visual Effects'. This is Muren's 15th nomination, and the second for Helman, Dutra and Sudick.

Other Star Wars alumni celebrating nominations include Keira Knightley, nominee for 'Best Actress', "Pride and Prejudice" and composer John Williams receiving his 44th and 45th nomination this year, with nominations for both "Memoirs of a Geisha" and "Munich" in the category of 'Best Score'.
